​Hey guys😊 While let’s talk…my topic today more personal and I’m sure everybody can relate to this. Imagine working hard towards success and every step you take it seems like you are moving further and further to the set goal. Like starting a business and still not seeing any returns. Or just not getting the opportunities you wish to get. (Exhausting right, I would know) Let’s talk about it more. As someone who studied Journalism and graduated. I thought after school finding opportunities in the industry would be easy like there’s Glamour, GQ, and all these publications. Writers are needed and so I thought. After graduating, I worked as an intern at BONA magazine. Great opportunity given the history of the publication. You get to go to invites and everybody is sending you PR releases. You feel like you are on top of the world. What they don’t tell you is yes you are invited but you will be transporting yourself to that event. Your outfit is on you etc. I mean you earn an intern salary...

​Happy Wednesday to all my girlies and guylies🥺 So today is my birthday (02’  Aries baby). So much is going through my hand right now like am I really getting older.( Don’t get me wrong I think growth is important I am just looking back at my life I can say I have come far). ​Hey fellow blog readers… Firstly, Happy New Year, I hope you transitioned well into the year and you achieve greatness above all things. The last time I wrote here was sometime last year. Where have I been…(let’s talk about it). 2025 as a freelancer was not really great for me to the point that writing and showing up on my platforms was difficult. Choosing not to dwell in the past, I hope 2026 is different. This year we will try to be more consistent and write from the heart.  Hi again..... Welcome to my first BEHIND THE COLUMN entry. I hope you stay and enjoy my journey with me as a newly freelance writer. Although I have introduced myself before, I will do it again, as this entry is more personal and the beginning of even greater things to come. My name is Limpho Liphiwe Nonkonyane, but I prefer being called Dee, mainly because most people get the pronunciation of my name wrong, and I've grown tired of correcting them. Limpho means 'God's gifts, a Sotho name given by my late dad, Vuyo Nonkonyane, and my middle name, Liphiwe, was provided by my Xhosa mother, Nomfundo Magingxa. Born on the 8th of April 2002, somewhere in Cape Town (I can't remember the hospital lol). Obivously I did the schooling thing and ended up later studying Journalism at IIE Rosebank College and graudauting with a cum laude.
