What I Learned From Not Seeing Results Immediately

While let’s talk…my topic today more personal and I’m sure everybody can relate to this.

Imagine working hard towards success and every step you take it seems like you are moving further and further to the set goal.

Like starting a business and still not seeing any returns. Or just not getting the opportunities you wish to get.

(Exhausting right, I would know)

Let’s talk about it more.

As someone who studied Journalism and graduated. I thought after school finding opportunities in the industry would be easy like there’s Glamour, GQ, and all these publications. Writers are needed and so I thought.

After graduating, I worked as an intern at BONA magazine. Great opportunity given the history of the publication.

You get to go to invites and everybody is sending you PR releases. You feel like you are on top of the world.

What they don’t tell you is yes you are invited but you will be transporting yourself to that event. Your outfit is on you etc.

I mean you earn an intern salary roughly around R3k-R4k. Where will I get the money for all that, and it doesn’t stop there cause sometimes you don’t have an outfit and you want to look presentable and cute right.

As much as I enjoyed the events I hate that I was going to events I was passionate about like beauty, wine and fashion. Till I left the publication still thinking I would be approached only to end up unemployed for a whole year.

In that year, I co-founded online publication, Luxe Living Africa. Which still needs more work but we will get there.

In the end, things worked out and as much as I’m not in the industry like that I am doing it part-time whilst focusing on making money.

So I guess patience and prayer works and preservative too.
